BOB, an ale brewed in Erith by Bexley Brewery, was on tap in the House of Commons’ last week (16 March). Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, where the company is based, was able to arrange for the sale of the beer in Strangers’ Bar, as part of a scheme run by the Houses of Parliament’s catering team to support small brewers and local businesses.

BOB (Bexley’s Own Beer) is a deliciously smooth pale ale. This ale is made with a combination of Crystal malts together with UK and New World hops, giving a floral aroma with a well-balanced flavour of gentle bittering and a lingering subtle sweetness.

Owners Cliff and Jane Murphy were invited to Parliament to serve a pint of their beer, whilst their son Cameron – potentially a brewer in the future – watched on.

Mr Evennett said “I am pleased to have been able to support Bexley Brewery, whose parakeet logo is popping up all over London and the South East. The company is going from strength to strength, thanks to the variety of beers that they sell. I know that many colleagues flocked to Strangers’ Bar for a pint of award-winning Bexley ale.”
