Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford and Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury, attended the Guide Dogs lobby of Parliament this afternoon (25 May) in Westminster Hall.
Representatives from the charity provided Mr Evennett with information about the Access All Areas campaign, which aims to raise awareness of assistance dog access denials and taking steps towards ensuring more is done by establishments and service providers to prevent them from happening.
Mr Evennett is pictured in Westminster Hall with Richard Greenwood, who lives in Welling, and his assistance dog, Zeus. Mr Greenwood spoke to Mr Evennett about his own experiences of access refusal.
After the event, Mr Evennett commented: βit is unacceptable for anyone to be refused access to a service because they have a guide dog, and it is great to be able to show support for the work The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association do to educate the public on these important matters.β
βI also enjoyed the opportunity to speak with Richard to discuss the problems he has faced locally, and I will be taking forward the issues he highlighted.β
