The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published a report today (3 November) following an inspection of the emergency department and medical services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in June.
Overall, the CQC has deemed the emergency department and medical care at the hospital have ratings of “Requires Improvement”. Whilst this is an improvement on the previous “Inadequate” rating, there is still much more to do.
Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has expressed his concerns with these findings and has requested an urgent meeting with the Chief Executive, Tim Higginson.
Mr Evennett commented: “I am very concerned with the outcome of this report. I have previously raised issues that were highlighted in this report, and it is disappointing they had not been addressed.”
“Patients deserve better, and I will be meeting the hospital’s Chief Executive next week to discuss their plans for improvement”.
