Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has welcomes the Government’s announcement that there will be an additional £1.3billion for schools funding over two years.
Yesterday (17 July), Rt Hon Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State for Education, announced the boost to the core schools budget, which will deliver the biggest improvement to the school funding system in over a decade. This additional funding to the fairer schools funding will mean an increase in the basic amount that every pupil will get, and no school will lose any money as a result of the new formula.
Mr Evennett commented: “school funding is at a record high because of the choices we have made to protect and increase school funding even as we faced difficult decisions elsewhere to restore our country’s finances. There are now 1.8million more pupils being educated in good or outstanding schools since 2010, and this announcement sends a clear message that we are committed to continuing to raise standards and giving every child the best possible education and opportunities for their future.”
