Last week, Upland Primary School in Bexleyheath held a theme week about jobs and careers. The school worked closely with the Education and Employers Taskforce to ensure the children could meet volunteers from a wide range of sectors, so that they can develop the links between the education they are currently receiving and the world of work.
Among the visitors to the school was Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford. He participated in an assembly where pupils had to guess what his job by asking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions. He then explained his role as a Member of Parliament and a Government Minister.
Mr Evennett is pictured on the assembly stage with an Education Officer from the Dogs Trust, a Bank Manager from Halifax, an Inspector at Bexleyheath Police Station, and a Publisher from Meridian Magazine.
Following the event Mr Evennett commented: “Whilst it will be some time before these children begin their careers, it is great to see Upland School being so pro-active early on to show children that learning has a real purpose and practical value throughout their lives.”
