Last Friday (28 September) was Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which is their largest fundraising event of the year to support people suffering from cancer. Last year alone, the charity raised over £27million.
Rt Hon Sir David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, attended a coffee morning in Barnehurst Road with his wife, Marilyn. The fundraiser was organised by Anne Rawlings and Hilary Haslam, and in order to increase the funds raised, they also had a stall outside to offer tea, coffee and cakes to commuters en route to Barnehurst Station. Together with their volunteers, they managed to raise £745.
Sir David commented: “Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is a brilliant annual event that I am always pleased to be able to support. It is great to see so many people coming together to support such a worthy cause.”
