The Minister for Sport and MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, Rt Hon David Evennett, has presented Danson Sports FC with a cheque for £459,486 for a new floodlit 3G artificial grass pitch.
The grant is from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund, which is delivered by the Football Foundation. The money will enable Danson Sports and the London Borough of Bexley to refurbish their current pitch with a spectacular viewing area.
Mr Evennett was greeted by representatives from the club and the Football Foundation. He spoke to them about the project before touring the site where the facility be built, and then presented the cheque.
Mr Evennett commented: “it is a real pleasure to be here today to hand over a sizeable cheque towards the creation of a new floodlit artificial grass pitch. Facilities like this are very much needed in the area, and when built it will aid football development for both the club and the local community.”
“It is vital that money is invested in grassroots clubs where it is most needed, and thanks to funding every year from the Government in partnership with the Premier League and the FA, the Football Foundation can continue to deliver excellent facilities across the country.”
