Sue lives in Bexleyheath and has been a Bexley resident for 34 years. She is married (her husband manages a local charity) has 3 children and a grandson.
Sue's eldest son was disabled and as his carer she was involved with many local services, particularly education, health and social care. Sue wanted her experiences to help others so worked for many years in voluntary roles, including: Belmont School Governor, Trustee of Bexley Crossroads (carer’s charity) and as a Bexley Magistrate. In 2009 she received an MBE for supporting disabled children and young people in Bexley.
Sue has worked for Bexley and Croydon Councils, Bexley Voluntary Service Council and currently Kent Safeguarding Children’s Board, the role for which she has just been awarded NSPCC Child Protection Trainer of the Year.
Outside work, Sue enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching films, reading and exercises to relax and is an experienced cake decorator.
