Rt Hon Sir David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has expressed his strong support for the constructive approach the new Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, Rt Hon Dominic Raab MP, has taken on the EU withdrawal negotiations.
Sir David commented: “both the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State have made it explicitly clear that when we exit the European Union, we will also be leaving the Single Market, the Customs Union, and the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice. I strongly support this approach, as well as the Secretary of State’s comments that the £39billion ‘divorce bill’ will not be paid if a new trade agreement is not reached. It is in the best interests of both Britain and the EU to reach a reasonable and fair deal on Brexit”.
