Nadhim Zahawi, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Minister for Intergovernmental Relations and Minister for Equalities, was the guest speaker at the Bexleyheath and Crayford Conservative Association on Thursday evening (13 October) held at Stuzzichini restaurant in Bexleyheath. In the Chair was Association President, Mark Brooks OBE.
At the sell out event, members enjoyed a two-course dinner and were also able to socialise with Nadhim, as well as Rt Hon Sir David Evennett MP, Cllr Teresa O’Neill OBE and Peter Fortune AM.
The Cabinet Minister, who fought the Erith and Thamesmead Parliamentary seat in 1997 and is now the MP for Stratford-on-Avon, spoke about his current role in the Cabinet Office dealing with a wide variety of policies, including equality issues. He talked about his time as Vaccine Minister and how the UK led the world in the COVID-19 vaccination programme. He highlighted the talent and entrepreneurial spirit in modern Britain and the opportunities for our country post-Brexit.
Following his speech, he took questions from Members and the evening concluded with a traditional Conservative raffle.
