Yesterday (2 February), the Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Gillian Keegan MP, visited Bexleyheath at the invitation of our Member of Parliament, Rt Hon Sir David Evennett MP.
Sir David first welcomed Gillian to the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath alongside Leader of Bexley Council, Cllr Baroness Teresa O’Neill OBE, and the Bexley Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Richard Diment. Together with officials from the Council, they discussed the superb education provision Bexley has to offer, highlighted a number of success stories and explained how the Local Authority supports schools across the Borough.
Gillian was then taken to Stuzzichini restaurant in the Broadway, Bexleyheath for the Bexleyheath and Crayford Conservative Association’s New Year Dinner. In the Chair was Association President, Mark Brooks OBE. Guests had the opportunity to socialise with Gillian before enjoying a two-course meal at the sell out event.
Following the supper, Gillian delivered a speech, where she spoke about her various roles in Government and the actions the Conservative Government are taking to continue to improve education outcomes, halve inflation and grow the economy. She then took questions from guests and the evening concluded with a traditional Conservative raffle.
