The Association held an AGM on Friday 3 March 2023 at the Bexleyheath Conservative Club. In the Chair was President Mark Brooks and the meeting was well attended and upbeat.
Chairman, Dave Jeffries gave his report on the past year, Treasurer Marian Pollard presented the accounts and elections took place for the Officer positions for 2023/24.
Rt Hon Sir David Evennett MP gave a review of the year, an update on the government’s policies and reported on the successful reintroduction of the Southeastern Rail service on the Bexleyheath line to Charing Cross outside of rush hours and on Saturdays. He also spoke about the Labour Mayor’s determination to extend the unpopular ULEZ to outer London Boroughs and the united campaign to stop the policy by MPs, GLA Conservative Members, Bexley Council and Councillors and community groups. After his speech, Rt Hon Sir David Evennett MP took members questions.
Cllr Baroness Teresa O’Neill OBE then addressed the meeting on the Local Election campaign and results, the council’s work on implementing manifesto commitments and the legal challenge to endeavour to stop the ULEZ expansion.
